The story.

Origin opened in De Waterkant in 2005, when Canadian founder Joel Singer went hunting for a proper cup and started roasting his own. It's since earned a name as the godfather of South African speciality coffee, quite possibly Cape Town's first artisan roaster. They work from a three-storey 1901 heritage warehouse on Hudson Street, roasting each coffee to its own potential rather than one house style. Expect seasonal blends and a deep bench of single origins, with a soft spot for African farms — their washed Kenyan Muthuaini AA drinks like blood orange and blackberry.
