About

We made the map we couldn’t find.

A social map of South Africa’s independent roasters — opinionated, neighbourhood-named, anti-snob.

Why we built this

The scene is huge. The map didn’t exist.

South Africa’s specialty coffee scene is everywhere — Cape Town to Jozi to Durban, and the cities most maps skip. But the people who care most are scattered across Instagram, old Reddit threads, and word of mouth. No honest, opinionated, locally-rooted directory exists.

Generic review sites flatten everything to a star rating. We do the opposite — name the neighbourhood, name the bean origin, name the roaster, and let you decide. So we built the one we couldn’t find.

What we care about

Four things we care about.

Built for South African coffee drinkers — curious beginners, home brewers, support-local diehards, and the roasters themselves.

No snobs.

Knowledge that welcomes, never gatekeeps.

Local first.

South African roasters, always. Big chains, never.

Sharp tips.

Specifics over star ratings. Name the bean, name the suburb.

Better with the crew.

Built slowly, with people who actually drink the coffee.
