The story.

Cedar was started in September 2021 by two of Cape Town's most decorated baristas: Winston Thomas, a three-time SA Barista Champion, and Leigh Wentzel, who spent seven years at Rosetta Roastery. The pair famously decided to go into business over a New Year's campfire. The mission is simple: make top-end specialty coffee more accessible, and pay farmers properly for it. From their Woodstock roastery and store in Side Street Studios, they roast bright, fruit-forward single origins — a natural Kenyan tastes of mango and tropical fruit — alongside chocolatey everyday blends.
